Howard E. Rubin - Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Rubin has been working with veterinarians in many capacities for the past 25 years. His activities have included partnering with veterinary specialists in building Cardiopet to the largest provider of telemedical services supporting general practitioners in all 50 states and 20 foreign countries. In the early 1990’s Mr. Rubin built among the first multidisciplinary referral only specialty veterinary hospitals in the United States. He is widely considered to be among the nation’s leading authorities on the economics and operations of veterinary practices. As founding CEO of the National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues, Mr. Rubin developed NCVEI’s innovative educational materials, training programs and benchmarking tools that have helped thousands of practices the world over improve the delivery of medical care and operational excellence.

Philip J. Bergman, DVM, MS, PhD - Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Bergman is one of the nation’s leading veterinary oncologists, having developed a canine melanoma vaccine that was granted conditional licensure by the U.S. Department of Agriculture earlier this year, the first U.S. government-approved vaccine of any kind for the treatment of cancer. Dr. Bergman previously completed a Ph.D. in human cancer biology from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and was the head of the Donaldson-Atwood Cancer Clinic at the Animal Medical Center for 8 years. While Dr. Bergman serves the entire BrightHeart organization as Chief Medical Officer with oversight of each facility’s medical practices and performance, he is also available for individual cases at KBVC.

Dr. Green’s multilevel training has occurred at several venues including the Animal Medical Center in NYC.
